Academic Seminar ' the idea of a nation state - Israel's experience' is jointly organized by the Embassy of the State of Israel to the Republic of Croatia, University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Political Sciences and Faculty of Humanities and Social sciences. The conference is organized to mark the 64th anniversary of the founding of Israel and to strengthen academic and cultural cooperation between the two countries. The main objective of the seminar is the presentation of contemporary Israeli society, culture, economy and legal system.
Academic seminar program consists of five sections (Zionism and Jewish nationalism, culture, regional aspects, law and economy, the possibilities of cooperation between Israel and Croatia), during which presentations will take place by a number of prominent intellectuals and scientists. With representatives from the University of Zagreb and the Croatian academic community who participate in the conference as moderators or presenters, four prominent Israeli intellectuals and scientists; Professor Daniel Gutwein, Professor of economic and social history at the University of Haifa, Professor Nissim Calderon with Department of Hebrew literature at Ben Gurion University of the Negev, professor Yair Hirschfeld, a lecturer at the University of Haifa and one of the architects of the Oslo agreement of 1993. year (Declaration of Principles on Interim Self-Government Arrangements) and professor of comparative civil law and jurisprudence at the Law Faculty in Tel Aviv, Menachem Mautner will also participate. Academic Seminar will end with a roundtable during which participants will discuss possibilities of cooperation between Israel and Croatia.
