Description
The purpose of the course is to provide students with the opportunity of analysing original legal documents in the German language, such as contracts and legal acts, from the perspective of their structure, style and legal purpose. The issues such as the establishment of a limited liability company in the Germany legal system, author s rights and judgements of the Court of Justice of the European Union are discussed.

Cognitive Skills:
  • identify main structural elements of original documents (contracts, judgements, etc.)
  • discuss legal consequences of single terms of a contract
  • sum up the main features of a case presented in a judgement
  • compare the provisions of the German Civil Code with comparable provision in Croatian laws
  • use appropriate legal terminology for a specific field of law
  • check up the meaning of certain legal terms, using appropriate sources
Practical and Generic Skills:
  • form an opinion about a certain legal issue using well founded arguments
  • develop the ability of oral and written communication in German
  • research different sources in German
  • participate in team and pair work
  • prepare PowerPoint presentation

  • Individual task: preparing a PowerPoint presentation about a topic a student selected
  • Regular participation in the class work and solving shorter homework tasks (translations, tasks involving lexical items, analysis of original documents, etc.).
