Gordana Berc was born in Zagreb, 1970. She graduated social work in 1999. at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law, Department of Social work and has been employed at the same faculty in 2001. as a junior research assistant. In 2005 she finished master degree in education sciences at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Philosophy. In 2009. she defended doctoral theses in the field of social sciences at the University of Zagreb, Faculty of Law. From 2010 she is employed as an assistant professor at the Faculty of Law and she teaches on the undergraduate and graduate program as well as on the postgraduate program.
From 2001. until today she was involved in teaching different courses at the Department of Social Work (Social Work with Families, Preventive Programs in Social Work, Family Therapy, Basics of counseling, Social work in education). Today she teaches Basics of counseling, Social work in education, Different approaches to Counseling, and two courses on the postgraduate program.
In 2008 Gordana Berc participated on the Junior Faculty Development Program (JFDP) as a junior assistant at the University of St. Thomas and St. Catherine University, School of Social Work, St. Paul, Minnesota (USA) for six months. Based on this experience she created at the home university the course School Social Work and started to teach this course in 2008. In the same time she created and started with teaching the course Different approaches to Counseling at the Department of Social Work, on master program. In 2012 she got a Katherine A. Kendall Fellowship and co-taugth a graduate course „Grief Counseling and Therapy“at the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University, School of Social Work, St. Paul, Minnesota, USA.

In addition, Gordana Berc finished four long-term trainings in the field of counseling and psychotherapy: Philosophy and Methods of Psychodrama (2002-2004.), Transaction Analyse (T.A.) (2002-2005.), Family Mediation (2004-2005.), Supervision for foster parents (2006-2008).
She was a mentor to 28 students who defended their final papers on undergraduate and graduate level in the field of social work with families, counseling, and school social work. From 2009. she teaches on doctoral and specialized programs as well.
From 2001. to 2013. she participated in four scientific projects as a researcher.
From 2001. to 2013 she published 21 scientific articles, presented 19 papers at the international conferences and 21 papers on the domestic conferences and seminars.
From 2010 she is ECTS coordinator at the Department of social work.
She is a volunteer as a therapist and a counselor in a family counseling center.
