Cognitive Skills:
After successfully completing the course, students will be able to:
- Critically read the text about the different theoretical perspectives on social issues and social work
- Select reliable and relevant scientific and professional sources of information on one topic from Internet, library
- Summarise key and professionally relevant information about a certain social issue or theoretical approach from selected sources and make writing summery
- Organize selected information by elements of the topic
- Illustrate with practice examples when appropriate
- Prepare a seminar paper
- Write according to the rules for citation, paraphrasing and referencing
- Know what Centres for social care do, and what is the role of social worker
- Know what kind of social care institutions exist, and what is the role of social worker
Practical and Generic Skills:
After successfully completing the course, students will gain:
- Ability to work in small groups projects
- Ability to learn independently
- Ability to critically read and write
- Ability to summarize and separate important content from les important wile reading
- Ability to structurally present information in group setting
Matching Assessments to Learning Outcomes:
Semian paper consists of 3 mutually related homework assignments in which students should connect a selected theoretical approach with a selected social problems (1. psychoanalytical and behavioural approach; 2. systematic approach; 3. radical, feminist and critical approach). In one of the papers students describe their expiriance from the field visit to Centers of Social Care and different social care institutions.
Final grade is an arrithmetic mean of grades for all three homework assignments.
